“You can’t get a more perfect Christmas day around the country. All of our capitals are looking at warm and sunny weather,” Narramore told Sunrise on Tuesday.

“On the East Coast, temperatures in the high 20s to low 30s with lots of sunshine. Also, southeastern Australia in the low 30s as well with lots of sunshine.

“In the 20s in Tasmania. A bit hotter in Adelaide. Looking at temperatures there in the mid to high 30s with lots of sunshine.

“In Perth ... looking at a much milder Christmas, temperatures in the mid-20s.

“The only wet weather will be across tropical north Australia with a few hit-and-miss showers and storms across there.”

Narramore then turned his attention to the bushfires in Victoria, which had burnt through 41,000ha across the Grampians by Tuesday morning.

“Fires around Victoria and NSW — today is our last day of reprieve,” he said.

“We’ll see heat return to much of western Victoria and NSW on Wednesday, Christmas Day, then Boxing Day the heat and wind is going to spread right across Victoria and NSW.

“We’ll then get some reprieve in Victoria on Friday the 27th but the heat and wind will continue in NSW on Friday. They’re not expecting reprieve until Saturday.”
