Detectives are investigating after a young girl died after she was found unresponsive at a suburban Adelaide home.

At least four paramedic crews from SA Ambulance Service rushed to the scene in Seaton, about 4pm, after receiving reports a five-year-old girl was suffering a possible cardiac arrest.

Another child is believed to have raised the alarm with emergency services, who were soon on Ballater Ave attempting to save the girl.

SA Police said the five-year-old was “initially treated at the scene” before being taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

But she was unable to be saved despite paramedics’ efforts.

SA Police are now investigating, and the matter will be subject to a coronial investigation.

Major crime and western district detectives locked down the street on Wednesday evening in a sign officers will remain at the scene well into the night.

It is understood the parents of the child are assisting with early inquiries, The Adelaide Advertiser reported.
