It will be alleged the boy was lured into a nearby public toilet under the guise of helping the other teen look for his phone, he was then allegedly threatened and then sexually assaulted.

Following investigations, detectives arrested a 16‑year‑old boy from Sturt on Monday.

He has been charged with three counts of rape and abduction, along with aggravated assault with a weapon and breaching a bond.

Neighbours told 7NEWS they saw the distressed boy with police shortly after the incident but had no idea the allegations would be so horrific.

“Brought me to tears and sick into my stomach and to the point I want that thing bulldozed,” one resident said.

Some residents now say they won’t allow their teenagers to walk through the park alone, describing the alleged attack as deeply unsettling for the community.

The accused was remanded in custody and is expected to return to court in March.
