Harrowing moment Adelaide girl, 12, escapes man who allegedly tried to lure her to his car in Taperoo

Harrowing video has captured the moment a young girl on her way to school was allegedly stalked by a man in Adelaide’s west.

The 12‑year‑old girl has been left shaken after a man allegedly pursued her, grabbed her shoulder and tried to lure her toward his car on Thursday around 7am.

The student was heading to her bus stop in Taperoo on Arkaba St when she noticed a man trailing her from the opposite side of the road.

She looked back, picked up her pace but he crossed over and closed in.

The girl claims he grabbed her shoulder and told her he had “expensive things” in his car, offering to take her with him. She refused and managed to get away.

The girl was wearing one AirPod and quickly called her mum as the man continued to follow.

She also made the decision to walk toward a nearby construction site, where several workers were able to help deter him.

“That’s disgusting behaviour,” a local resident said.

Taperoo resident Michelle captured the encounter on her home security camera and provided the footage to police.

“He looked like real creepy to me the way he was stalking her,” she told 7NEWS.

She hopes the footage will help police will catch him.

“I hope so because I don’t want nothing to happen to her, or anyone else,” she said.

The girl’s mother, distressed but told 7NEWS that she is proud of her daughter’s quick thinking, says the school is now supporting the family and its wider community.

Police are investigating the early‑morning incident.

“The man is described as having a tanned complexion, with a medium build, about 170cm tall with brown hair. He was wearing dark pants and t-shirt with an unbuttoned checkered shirt,” they said in a statement.
