SA Police said that the plane had hit the tarmac, describing it as a “minor collision” based on current information.

Bystanders captured video of the plane on fire on the tarmac.

Parafield Airport, a public training airport, is located around 18km north of Adelaide’s CBD.

The flames from the fire quickly spread to the nearby grass around the tarmac.

Fire crews confirmed the blaze is now under control.

No injuries have been reported.

A Parafield Airport spokesperson said: “Parafield Airport is assisting emergency services including SA Police and MFS following a single aircraft crash at the airport this afternoon.”

“Parafield Airport will also assist the Australian Transport Safety Bureau with any investigations into the incident.”

The ATSB is aware of the crash and is working to get more information.
