A South Australian One Nation candidate is wanted by police for failing to appear in court over an outstanding criminal charge in the UK.

Aoi Baxter was running for the seat of Adelaide but has been pulled from One Nation’s website on the eve of the election after it was alleged he failed to appear in court over allegations he inappropriately touched a woman in the UK.

The ABC reports Mr Baxter, also known as Trent Baxter, was charged with sexually touching a woman without consent over an alleged incident that occurred in September 2023.

A spokesman from His Majesty’s Court and Tribunals Service in the UK old the ABC Mr Baxter has an arrest warrant without bail for not attending court.

“Should you know of his location, it would assist the court and relevant authorities,” a spokesman said.

Mr Baxter’s profile has since been pulled from the One Nation South Australia website following the allegations and replaced with a generic message: “Maybe Albo broke the internet (again), or maybe the page you were looking for was just not found on our amazing new website.”

A One Nation spokesman said in a statement they had been made aware of the allegations regarding the party’s candidate for Adelaide.

The spokesman confirmed Mr Baxter was no longer a candidate for their party.

“To the best of our understanding, Mr Baxter may have a warrant in the United Kingdom for failing to appear at a court hearing,” a spokesman said.

“This was not disclosed to One Nation by Mr Baxter. It’s unclear if this relates to the same individual.

“One Nation will co-operate fully with law enforcement regarding this matter.

“One Nation conducted a nationwide police check on Mr Baxter as it does with all candidates. No issues were discovered.

“The party takes this matter seriously, and is seeking more information. This includes whether or not other parties may have obtained this information earlier and chose not to disclose it when it came to hand,” a spokesman said.

Mr Baxter has been contacted for comment, but when Channel 9 asked him if he denied the allegations, Mr Baxter said he believed someone was “innocent until proven guilty”.

“I believe in innocent until proven guilty, that’s all I’m going to say at the moment, I will be putting out a full statement,” he said.
