Sydney airport chaos as Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin and Rex cancel flights over ‘high winds’
Over 60 domestic flights from Sydney Airport have already been cancelled as strong winds lashed NSW on Monday.
Only the airport’s east-west runway is operational, and travellers have been urged to watch the status of any upcoming flights.
With two runways out of action, Qantas, Virgin, Jetstar, and Rex have all had to cancel a number of services.

“We encourage passengers to check with their airline regarding the status of their flight.”
Qantas has canned 27 domestic flights, Virgin has cancelled 26 flights, Jetstar has cancelled seven flights, and Rex has cancelled two flights for the day, according to the Sydney Airport flight website.
The winds are predominantly impacting the domestic network, Sydney Airport said.
Two Jetstar flights to Auckland were the only international flights that the Australian carriers have cancelled so far.
The Bureau of Meteorology said wind gusts up to 120km/h were possible until Monday afternoon.
