Sydney earthquake: 3.5 magnitude quake shakes Greater Sydney after Appin epicentre shudder

An earthquake has rocked parts of Greater Sydney, with residents in multiple parts of the city reporting they felt the shakes.

Areas of Sydney have been rocked by an afternoon earthquake.

The 3.5 magnitude quake struck in outer Sydney from a depth of 2km according to Geocience Australia.

The epicentre, located in Appin on the outskirts of Greater Sydney, shook just before 3pm as the quake hit.

Appin, located around 60kms south west of the Sydney CBD, reported shakes along with other areas including Parramatta and Camden.

Seismograph data showed the quake occurred at 2.53pm and shook some parts of Sydney for around 30 seconds.

Online, Sydneysiders were quick to comment on the earthquake.

“Okay, casual earthquake in sydney on a wednesday afternoon?” one user wrote on X.

“Was there just an earthquake in Sydney?,” another asked.

“Whole entire house shook for two seconds,” they added.
