A light plane has crashed into the roof of a building near Sydney, leaving a pilot trapped in the wreckage as emergency services use a cherry picker to reach the man.

It is understood that the plane crashed at around 10.15am on Friday at the Wedderburn Aerodrome, a privately owned airfield in Sydney’s southwest.

The pilot, believed to be a man in his 70s, was reportedly the only occupant in the light plane.
