Sydney’s gun violence is showing no sign of abating as a truck driver recovers in hospital after facing a hail of bullets in the city’s southwest.

The man was seriously injured as he was ambushed by a shooter at Yennora, about 11.20pm Monday.

Police allege the 29-year-old was driving along Donald Street, when another vehicle stopped in front of him.

A man allegedly exited the vehicle and fired several shots at the truck, before returning to the vehicle and leaving the scene.

The truck driver was treated by paramedics for gunshot wounds to his wrist and abdomen before he was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene and are investigating the incident as they hunt for the shooter.

A short time later, a black Lexus sedan was discovered on fire on Dixmude Street, South Granville, and a second vehicle alight on Boundary Road, Chester Hill.

Both fires were put out by Fire and Rescue NSW, before police established crime scenes at both locations.

Police are investigating whether the shooting and car fires are linked.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incidents is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers.
