Two men inside the ute, a 57-year-old Birkdale man and 65-year-old Inala man, were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

The occupants of the second vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward.
