Uber carjacking: CCTV reveals moment three youths allegedly threaten driver with knife at Sydney car wash
CCTV footage has captured the moment an Uber driver was allegedly robbed by three teens armed with a knife in Sydney’s southwest, as the hunt for the suspects continues.
The rideshare driver was at a car wash on Atchison Rd in Macquarie Fields about 3.30am on Tuesday when the incident occurred, police allege.
The CCTV shows the 48-year-old driver from Minto washing his grey Toyota after completing his shift when the three teens approach.

Two people take the Uber and leave with the man’s mobile phone and wallet. A third person follows along in a scooter.
The driver, who reported the incident to police, was not injured but distressed.
Acting Police Superintendent Dean Johnstone described the accident as “extremely brazen”.
“Arm with knives and threaten the man, and then take his vehicle — a vehicle which the man actually uses as his livelihood,” Johnstone said.
The stolen car was later involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle on Copperfield Dr in Ambarvale about 45 minutes after the robbery.
The driver of the other car, a 62-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries when the airbag deployed and struck her chest.
Paramedics treated her at the scene.
According to her report to police, two people got out of the stolen car after the collision and fled the scene on a scooter.
Police are urging the public to help identify the three suspects.
“Police have been told all three people were wearing black clothing with their faces covered. One was armed with a knife,” police said.
Police added that one of the suspects is described as Caucasian, about 150 to 155cm tall, with a slim build.
The second suspect is described as Pacific Islander in appearance, about 150cm tall, also with a slim build.
Crime scenes have been established at both Macquarie Fields and Ambarvale as investigations continue.
Investigators are appealing for anyone with relevant dashcam footage from the area between Atchison Rd and Copperfield Dr, recorded between 3.30am and 4.30am, to contact police.
