Uber Eats expands to 67 regional locations across Australia

More regionally based Aussies will be able to order a takeaway as Uber Eats expands its operations in 2025.
The expansion will include 67 new regional towns across all six states, giving access to the popular food delivery service to another 920,000 people.
While 35 of the new regional locations have been revealed, the other 45 currently remain a mystery due to commercial sensitivities, 7NEWS.com.au understands.

Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF) CEO Margy Osmond said the impact of the expansion will go “beyond the immediate benefits of convenience and choice”.
“Access to reliable food delivery helps visitors enjoy the best of what a region has to offer with ease, whether it’s enjoying local cuisine after a day of exploration, or ordering from a favourite restaurant while staying in a remote area,” Osmond said.
“For residents, it provides essential services, especially in areas where options may be more limited.”
The expansion will also offer new opportunities for regional restaurants.
Resturateur, Nico Jaramillo, had no hospitality experience when he moved to Australia from Columbia in 2012 — now he and his Vietnamese partner Lucy Nguyen run a successful Vietnamese restaurant in Broome, Mr Saigon.
The restaurant does 80 per cent of its annual trading when business booms during the tourist-heavy dry season, but Jaramillo is excited to boost operations in the wet season to balance the fluctuations of seasonal demand.
“People already call in asking if we have delivery and we can’t accommodate them. Now we will be able to,” Jaramillo said.
“Delivery will be a game changer, there is definitely demand for Uber Eats in this town.”
Uber Eats predicts restaurants will earns an extra $45 million in additional revenue this year as a result of the expansion.
Thousands of workers will also be able to find work as delivery drivers, as the flexible, low-skill employment opportunities pop up in the regional locations.
