Veteran broadcaster Alan Jones facing fresh assault charge relating to an 11th alleged victim

Veteran broadcaster Alan Jones has been charged with an additional offence, relating to an 11th alleged victim, just days before he is due to face court.
The 83-year-old was arrested at his luxury apartment in Sydney’s Circular Quay in November and charged with a number of allegations linked to indecent assault and sexual touching incidents spanning two decades, NSW Police said.
The previously laid charges related to alleged offences that took place between 2001 and 2019, with the youngest of the complainants aged 17 at the time.

It takes the total number of charges to 35, including 11 counts of aggravated indecent assault where the alleged victim was under his authority.
Mr Jones has previously denied all charges.
“These allegations are all either baseless or they distort the truth,” the former broadcaster told a media scrum after a brief hearing at Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court in December.
“I have never indecently assaulted these people.”
Mr Jones said he intended to present his account to a jury and would not be engaging in a “running commentary” in the media.
Known as the Talkback King, Mr Jones began a hugely influential life on the airwaves in 1985 after a failed career in politics, becoming a feared interviewer who excelled at grilling leaders while dividing audiences with his outspoken, conservative views.
He is currently on bail and is set to face Downing Centre Local Court on March 11.
