Victoria Police officer charged with sexual assault by NSW Police over alleged Surry Hills hotel incident

A Victoria Police officer has been charged with sexual assault in New South Wales over an alleged incident in a hotel room.
NSW Police on Tuesday charged the Victorian officer, a 32-year-old man, following investigations into the alleged sexual assault of a 38-year-old woman in a hotel room in Sydney’s Surry Hills.
Police say following the incident being reported, Strike Force Brierley was formed in March 2025 to investigate the alleged sexual assault.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.“Following a referral from Victorian Police Sexual Offences and Family Violence Unit, Surry Hills detectives commenced an investigation,” a NSW Police spokesperson said.
On Tuesday, Victorian Police arrested the 32-year-old officer and executed a search warrant on behalf of NSW Police at a house in Northeast Melbourne, Victoria.
Police said the officer was “off duty” at the time of the alleged sexual assault.
The man was charged with sexual intercourse without consent and appeared before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
NSW Police have formally applied for the man’s extradition to NSW.
He was granted conditional bail by Melbourne Magistrates’ Court to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 3 April 2025.
