Police shooting suspect Dezi Freeman is wanted over alleged child sexual offences, 7NEWS can reveal.
The alleged offences relate to a minor under 16 and is why police were executing a search warrant at his Porepunkah property on Tuesday.
It is understood the alleged offending happened in the past two years.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The manhunt for Freeman has entered its third day after he fled into bushland following the alleged fatal shooting of Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson, 59, and Senior Constable Vadim De Waart, 35.
A total of 10 officers attended his home near Bright in regional Victoria, with a third officer also shot.
He suffered serious injuries to his leg and is currently in hospital.
It’s believed Freeman is in possession of an arsenal of weapons and is very dangerous.


Locals in Porepunkah and surrounding areas have been urged to stay inside if possible.
“I can assure everyone that we are pouring every resource into this search for this person,” Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Mike Bush said.
“We have a large team investigating this crime and we have a large team that are absolutely focused on finding this suspect.
“All of our specialist resources are there to make this happen.
“The hunt will continue until we find him. ”
Special Operations Group officers are searching the area with help from the Air Wing.
Porepunkah residents believe Freeman may be using old gold mining tunnels and caves to hide from police.
He is an experienced bushman and knows the area extremely well.
Freeman was last seen wearing khaki tracksuit pants, a dark green rain jacket, brown Blundstone boots and reading glasses.
