After extinguishing the fire, emergency services found a Mazda had been backed through the roller door and was destroyed in the flames.

It is believed the car was set on fire after crashing into the shop and the incident is being treated as suspicious.

No one was inside the shop at the time of the fire, but residents who lived behind it were evacuated as a precaution.

They were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Police have established a crime scene and will remain there most of the morning.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information or who noticed suspicious activity in the area is urged to contact police.
