Crime scene established after body found in Southland Westfield in Cheltenham

Straight to breaking news out of Melbourne and police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the carpark of a Cheltenham shopping centre early this morning.

Shopping centre staff and police are managing a crime scene in a Westfield carpark after a body was discovered before the centre opening early on Thursday morning.

A man’s body was discovered in the carpark of the Westfield shopping centre in Melbourne’s southeast shortly after 5.30am and a member of the public raised the alarm.

The Southland centre in Cheltenham was closed at the time the body was located and was due to open as it opens at 9am.

Police have set up a crime scene and the area has been cordoned off.

It is unclear at this stage how long the body had been in the carpark before it was found.
