Family and police held serious concerns for their welfare, with both needing daily medication and likely to become confused or disoriented.

On Sunday night, police confirmed the couple had been located safe and well about 170kms from Melbourne and thanked everyone for their help.

They were found in the town of Maryborough, which is 58kms north of Ballarat.
