Former union boss John Setka has defied the Victorian Premier for the second day in a row rallying hundreds of CFMEU members on a state government worksite.

Setka spoke to a crowd of 600 workers on the Metro Tunnel project on Thursday morning, again telling union members not to vote Labor.

“Let me tell you what’s happened now. 270 elected union officials across this country have lost their jobs,” the controversial former union boss said during the speech.

Anthony Albanese was also targeted in the speech over the forced administration of the construction union.

In response, Premier Jacinta Allan said police have been contacted.

“There is no place for John Setka on these worksites. He was on these sites unlawfully and that is why the matters have been referred to Victoria Police,” she said.

This comes after Setka criticised the federal government while addressing union members at the Footscray Hospital construction site in Melbourne on Wednesday.

Victoria’s Police Chief Commissioner Shane Patton was asked by 7NEWS for his thoughts.

“You need to be asked to leave and a demand made before an offence has actually been committed,” he said.

“So whether an offence has been committed here or not, we’ll work through that, but my preliminary thoughts are possibly not.”
