John Levin: 93-year-old doctor dubbed ‘Australia’s oldest dad’ reveals he wants more children

John Levin, a 93-year-old doctor from Melbourne, who welcomed a baby boy just 18 months ago, has turned heads with news that he may not be done growing his family.
Dubbed “Australia’s oldest dad”, Dr Levin became a father for the fourth time in February 2024 when he and his wife, Dr Yanying Lu, who is more than 50 years younger than him, welcomed their son, Gabby.
The couple turned to IVF and donor sperm to fulfil their dream of having a child together.

“I thought to myself, if I lose him (Dr Levin), I want a part of him. I wanted to have a child.”
Now, the Hampton East GP has revealed his bold ambition to live long enough to see Gabby turn 21.
“Of course being there for his 21st is a goal,” he told the outlet; however, his biggest goal is to be there for Gabby’s bar mitzvah when he turns 13.
“It’s such an important moment. I want to guide him through it,” he said.
In what’s likely to raise eyebrows, Dr Levin also announced he and Dr Lu are thinking about expanding their family.
“We’d like to have a little girl,” he told Nova 100.
While Dr Levin sounded confident about the idea, Dr Lu added they were “still talking” about it.
A specialist in anti-ageing, Dr Levin first made headlines two decades ago when he revealed he had been injecting human growth hormone for 10 years, a practice he continues to this day.
He maintains a strict lifestyle by going to the gym twice a week, eating a mostly plant-based diet, and avoiding alcohol and cigarettes.
Dr Levin has three children from his first marriage: Greg, who died in 2024 aged 65 from motor neurone disease, Ashley, 62, and Samantha, 60.
He also has 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
His first wife, Veronica, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage, passed away in 2013.
