Man dead woman fighting for life after ‘physical altercation’ at Bentleigh East home, in Melbourne’s southeast

A man has died at a home in Melbourne’s southeast in a stabbing incident on Sunday night.

A woman was also found fighting for life when emergency services were called to the address at Bentleigh East just before 8pm.

“It’s believed a physical altercation took place between two males and a female,” Victoria Police said.

The man, who was critically injured, died at the scene and he is yet to be formally identified.

The woman, aged in her 50s, was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Police have been unable to interview the woman yet due to the extent of her injuries.

Police said they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident and believe all parties involved know each other.

A 20-year-old Bentleigh East man was arrested at the scene and on Sunday he was charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

He fronted court on Sunday and was remanded to appear again in November.
