Melbourne: Scissor-wielding man arrested after 10-year-old boy assaulted, woman stabbed in CBD attack
A woman was stabbed when she tried to shield the boy from the alleged attacker.

Victoria Police have arrested a scissor-wielding man after he allegedly assaulted a 10-year-old boy and stabbed a woman in a terrifying attack in Melbourne’s CBD.
Officers descended on Spencer Street near the corner of La Trobe street on Tuesday about 1pm after receiving reports a young boy had been assaulted.
Police said a woman, who was accompanying the boy, suffered stab wounds to her upper body as she tried to shield the boy from the alleged attacker.

“A woman with the boy at the time, intervened and was stabbed to the upper body,” Victoria Police said in a statement provided to The Nightly.
“The 10-year-old boy from Bass Coast area and the 30-year-old Cowes woman were hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.”
Police arrested a 27-year-old Sunshine West man a short time later nearby. They also seized a pair of scissors that were located on the man’s person.
Early reports suggest the pair were not known to the alleged attacker.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident as the man waits to be interviewed in policy custody.
