Monash Freeway: Narre Warren learner driver busted allegedly driving 226km/h in Mulgrave

A learner driver in Victoria has allegedly been clocked at an extraordinary speed in an early morning dash down the freeway.
The 23-year-old Narre Warren man was busted by Nunawading Highway Patrol officers conducting speed checks on vehicles on the Monash Freeway.
They detected an Audi being driven by the man travelling at an alleged speed of 226km/h in a 100km/h zone about 3am.

The learner was accompanied by an adult passenger but she was allegedly a disqualified driver.
The driver is expected to be charged on summons with unaccompanied learner and speeding offences.
The Audi was impounded for a period of 30 days at a cost of $1016.
Last year 1314 people lost their lives on the road, a toll 1.7 per cent higher than 2024.
The national fatality rate in 2025 was 4.8 deaths per 100,000 people, according to national data.
