Olivia Rodrigo fans trying to get home after her Melbourne concert on Thursday night faced significant delays after two CBD train stations were evacuated.

Police are now hunting for two people who damaged a fire sprinkler, flooding several platforms at Melbourne Central railway station.

It’s believed the pair gained access to a stairwell connecting the platforms and damaged the sprinkler about 10.40pm.

They fled the scene before the sprinkler caused “extensive flooding” to several of the platforms, police said.

Both Melbourne Central and Flagstaff Railway stations had to be evacuated, with the flooding causing “significant” delays to the city’s underground rail network.

Among those impacted were throngs of Olivia Rodrigo fans trying to get home after her second Melbourne concert at Rod Laver Arena.

The American pop star is in Australia for her Guts tour and is performing four sold-out shows in Melbourne before heading to Sydney.

Police said the investigation into the incident “remains ongoing”.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
