A man has died after being hit by an out-of-control ute in Melbourne’s southeast.

The man was walking along Belgrave-Hallam Road in Narre Warren North when a dark grey Ford ute collided with a Mazda 3 nearby about 2.45pm on Wednesday.

The collision pushed the ute off course, onto the footpath and into the pedestrian, who died at the scene.

He is yet to be identified.

The male ute driver was taken to hospital under police guard with non-life-threatening injuries, while the female Mazda driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and will be spoken to by police.

“An investigation into the exact circumstances of the collision is underway,” Victoria Police said.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or with footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
