Riot police break up party after up to 80 teens allegedly trash Cranbourne home in Melbourne

Riot police have swarmed a party after up to 80 teenagers allegedly trashed a recently renovated home in Melbourne’s southeast.

Police were called to a property on Powerscout Retreat in Cranbourne about 11pm on Friday following reports a large party that had spiralled out of control.

Neighbours told 7NEWS teenagers arrived in waves throughout the night.

“Just a non-stop wave of people coming along and swarming into the house,” Adam Thomson said.

“Whole carloads. It wasn’t just one or two. It was all at once from everywhere,” Ash Vale said.

Multiple police units, including members of the Public Order Response Team (PORT), were deployed to the property, police said.

Footage from the scene shows dozens of teenagers spilling onto the street, screaming and shouting as police dispersed the crowd.

It’s believed the organisers used fake identification to rent the property through Airbnb, which had recently been renovated and listed for sale.

Police said the home was extensively damaged.

“Windows smashed — you can see from the outside, even the fly screen’s on the roof,” Vale said.

Some partygoers also allegedly stole items from inside the house.

“They’ve even pinched the TV. The TV’s gone. We watched that run down the street,” Thomson said.

7NEWS understands the property’s owner rushed to the scene, but the situation was so chaotic they did not get out of their car, instead seeking shelter further down the street.

Thomson and Vale said they feared the group could target neighbouring homes.

“They were pretty much looking for places to hide and whether they were going to start making their way into residences was a bit of a concern,” Thomson said.

No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
