A man has been killed in a shooting in Melbourne’s north, and two men are under police guard in hospital.

Emergency services were called to a property on Gentles Ave in Campbellfield at 10.10pm on Friday after the were told a man had been shot.

They arrived to find the man with life-threatening injuries.

The 60-year-old man was rushed to hospital, but could not be saved and died.

A 20-year-old man from Yarraville and a 22-year-old man from Westmeadows are now under police guard in hospital.

The pair “came to police attention after being dropped at a hospital with injuries”, Victoria Police said.

They are yet to be interviewed by police.

There is a crime scene in place and homicide detectives are investigating.

Forensics were seen taking photos of items on the road on Saturday morning, including a shotgun.

“Detectives are also investigating whether the discovery of a burnt-out car in Northbourne Rd in Campbellfield just after 11pm is linked to the incident,” Victoria Police said.

“At this stage it is believed the incident was targeted and the people involved are known to one another.”
