Wild footage of machete fight in Broadmeadows shopping centre in Melbourne

Wild footage has emerged of two men swinging machetes at each other in a major Melbourne shopping centre.
The fight began out in the carpark and continued inside Broadmeadows Central in Melbourne’s north on Friday night.
Footage online shows the two men trying to slash each other - essentially sword fighting - with the machetes as retail workers watch from behind locked security doors.

Both appear to be wearing balaclavas.
In a statement, police say an altercation between two groups began in a carpark about 7.20pm and continued in the shopping centre.
“The groups fled the scene in a silver Honda and a white Mazda prior to police arrival.
“It is believed some of the offenders were armed with edged weapons.”
Police want any witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.
There have been a series of high profile acts of violence involving machetes across Melbourne, most recently the deaths Dau Akueng, 15, and Chol Achiek, 12, as they walked home from a basketball game on September 6 in the western suburbs.
Five children and three adults have been co-accused of Dau and Chol’s alleged murders.
An incident involving machetes at a major shopping centre in the north in May sparked the state government to immediately ban the sale of machetes.
Amnesty bins were set up last month for people to surrender their weapons.
Victoria’s Police Minister said in the first two weeks of September, 1386 machetes and knives were surrendered into the bins, retailers handed over 3500 blades, and police had seized 10,800 bladed weapons so far this year.
