A woman’s body has been found in water near a popular walking trail and reserve in an outer suburb of Melbourne.

Police found the body in water near The Esplanade in Narre Warren South, not far from Berwick Springs, on Tuesday morning.

The woman has not yet been formally identified.

Police are investigating the woman’s death and do not believe any foul play was involved.

“(The death) is not believed to be suspicious at this stage,” they said.
