The second winner of the life-changing Powerball division one winning prize of $50 million has been revealed as a young man in his 20s who had never bought a ticket before.

Two lucky players, one in Victoria and one in Queensland, split the $100 million Powerball jackpot drawn on Thursday.

The Queensland winner was revealed to be a grandmother from Rockhampton, while the lucky Victorian remained a mystery until Friday morning.

A man in his 20s from Preston has been uncovered as the new multi-millionaire, and admitted to officials it was the first time he’d ever bought a Powerball ticket.

He also said he’d barely slept after checking his ticket and realising his life would be forever changed.

“It feels unreal. It’s unbelievable,” he told officials from The Lott.

“I’m speechless right now. I can’t wrap my head around it.

“It was impossible to sleep once I realised that I’d won $50 million.”

Despite the win the young man said he would “absolutely” keep on working but would put some of the money towards helping his parents retire.

“I woke up this morning feeling like nothing is going to hold me back anymore,” he said.

“It really feels like I could do whatever I want, like the world is my oyster.”

The grandmother from Central Queensland said she was expecting another solar panel sales pitch when she picked up the phone on Thursday night.

Lott officials called the grandmother immediately following the draw to deliver the life-changing news, to which she responded: “You’re joking”.

“I’m in disbelief. I can’t believe it. This doesn’t happen to us,” she said.

“I expected you to ask if we have solar panels, not to tell us we’ve just won $50 million.”

Draw 1489 was the sixth-largest jackpot in Australian lottery history and a sole division one winner would have joined just six others in our gaming history to have watched nine figures be deposited into their account.

Thousands of tickets were expected to be sold every minute as the draw neared, with up to half of all Australian adults set to try their luck at becoming a multimillionaire just weeks before Christmas.

In addition to the two division one winning entries, there were 11 division two winners who each took home $158,200.15.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1489 were 1, 4, 9, 10, 22, 26 and 31. The Powerball number was 14.
