Popular Australian author Craig Silvey has pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing child exploitation material, but two other charges have been dropped.

Award-winning young adult author Craig Silvey has pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing child exploitation material.
Silvey, 43, was charged in January after police raided his Perth home and seized multiple electronic devices.
In Fremantle Magistrates Court on Tuesday, the Jasper Jones author pleaded guilty to two charges.

Silvey’s bail was extended under the same conditions.

He did not comment to waiting media outside court.
The father-of-three will face the WA District Court on July 3 for a sentence mention.
Jasper Jones was adapted into a feature film and Silvey has also won awards for other books including Rhubarb, Honeybee and Runt.
After Silvey was charged, some bookstores immediately removed his work from their shelves.
Allen & Unwin and Fremantle Press have also stopped promoting his books.
