A Kimberley man has gone toe-to-toe with a saltwater crocodile, punching it in the nose to escape its clutches after being attacked by the reptile while fishing at the weekend, according to a report by the ABC.

On the same afternoon as the much-hyped Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight, the Kimberley man found himself in a bout of his own.

The fisherman told the ABC he punched the crocodile in the nose to escape its jaws before being transported and treated at Broome Hospital.

The man was discharged from hospital on Sunday.
