Elderly pedestrian dies as she’s hit by truck at busy intersection in Maddington, WA

Police say a Volvo truck collided with an 82-year-old woman at the intersection of Albany Highway and Kelvin Road in Maddington, Perth.

A pedestrian has been hit and killed by a truck at an intersection in Perth’s southeast on Wednesday.

The woman, 82, suffered critical injuries and died at the intersection of Albany Hwy and Kelvin Rd in Maddington about 11.40am, WA Police said.

The Volvo truck driver, a 52-year-old male, was uninjured.

Albany Hwy is closed between Burslem Dr and Kelvin Rd while emergency services are on the scene.

Traffic diversions are in place and drivers should avoid the area.

The Major Crash unit is now investigating and anyone with information should contact police.
