Glen Cahill: Family of one-punch victim outside of Hillarys Beach Club tell of devoted dad to two girls
The victim of an alleged one-punch attack in Hillarys after Melbourne Cup celebrations is a father of two young girls who has an “army of friends surrounding him with love and support”.
Glen Cahill remained in a critical condition at Royal Perth Hospital on Wednesday evening after the incident outside of Hillarys Beach Club about 4pm on Tuesday.
The 43-year-old was with his wife Tarryn waiting for a rideshare vehicle outside the venue on John Wilkie Tarn when he was allegedly approached by a 40-year-old stranger.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.Police claim the accused, Matthew Anthony Jennings, was acting in an “intimidating manner before becoming involved in a physical altercation with the victim”.
“During the altercation, the accused allegedly punched the victim to the face causing him to lose consciousness and fall backwards, striking his head on the road,” police said.
Mr Cahill, who had been celebrating the Melbourne Cup earlier in the day, was rushed to RPH with serious head and facial injuries.
Security staff at the venue detained Mr Jennings until police arrived and took him into custody.
“Glen is a devoted dad to two girls aged four and six and a loving husband to Tarryn,” Mr Cahill’s devastated family said in a statement on Wednesday.
“He has an army of family and friends surrounding him with love and support at this tough time.”
Mr Jennings has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
He faced Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.
He is due to face court again on November 22, where it is expected he will apply for bail.
