Man accused of murdering his mother after 78-year-old’s body discovered inside Yangebup home on Sandpiper Loop
A 54-year-old man has been accused of killing his mother after her body was discovered inside her home in Perth’s southern suburbs.
Homicide detectives allege the man murdered his 78-year-old mother sometime between Saturday and Monday.
Emergency services were called to the home on Sandpiper Loop in Yangebup about 7.15am on Monday, where they made the grim discovery.

He is now facing one count of murder and will face the Fremantle Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Residents have been left shocked over the alleged incident.
Chris Phillips, who lives down the street, laid some flowers at the scene as a tribute.
“It is a shock to the system,” he said.
“I want to show that the community is here.”
One Sandpiper Loop resident described the alleged victim as “wonderful”.
She said the woman’s husband had died of cancer and that she had lived in the area for several decades.
“I’ll go up there and place some flowers down tomorrow,” she said. “I’ve known her for 40 years.”
Another man who claimed to be close to the family said he was “distraught”.
