It happened as the accused pushed a stroller across a pedestrian crossing near Mandurah Forum about 12.30pm.

“A 32-year-old man was pushing a pram across a pedestrian crossing ... when a vehicle drove through the crossing,” police said.

“The man became involved in a verbal altercation with the unknown driver, who had stopped and exited the vehicle a short distance from the crossing.

“The 32-year-old then threatened the driver with a large knife or machete before the driver left the scene.”

Authorities appealed for information and a Mandurah man attended his local police station on Monday and was arrested.

He was charged with being armed in a way that may cause fear.

He will appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on September 27.
