WA’s oldest woman has shared her secret to a long and happy life — and a warning: It’s a little bit saucy.

“Sex, lots of sex,” Dianella woman Dora Caverson said as she celebrated her 110th birthday this week.

Ms Caverson, who lives at Maurice Zeffert Home, marked the milestone on Tuesday surrounded by her family, other residents, and carers.

Asked what she wanted for her birthday, Ms Caverson, believed to be the fourth oldest person in Australia, cheekily replied with a laugh.

“A toy boy,” she said.

Ms Caverson was born in Gorbals in Glasgow in 1914.

As a young woman, she worked for the British shipping and cruise line Cunard Line, travelling to Canada and America before settling in South Africa with her husband, Joe Caverson.

She followed her son to Perth in the 1980s after her husband died.

“Dora has always had an eye for the opposite sex,” a statement by the Aged and Community Care Providers Association said.

“She said she had many crushes, including Jack, Eddie and Cecil, but fell in love with Joe.

“Dora and Joe were only married for thirteen years, bringing up Joe’s daughter Ruth and their son Stephen, before Joe unfortunately passed away.”

ACCPA chief executive Tom Symondson said “reaching supercentenarian status is a remarkable milestone and our WA team was honoured to celebrate this special day with Dora.”

As a birthday treat, two pipers from the Australian Army Band Pipes and Drums played for her.

Maurice Zeffert currently boasts five residents aged over 100. Three are 100, one is 102 and Dora, 110. Three more residents are due to turn 100 next year.
