A Perth man is being remembered as an avid traveller with a love of the outdoors following his death during a solo hike in the Swiss Alps.

Stephen Ingram, 33, suffered fatal injuries when he slipped on ice and fell from Stockhorn mountain on Sunday.

His body was discovered on Tuesday during an aerial search of the mountain, which was launched when he failed to turn up to work.

Ingram’s sister Lisa Hegarty said it was a “pure accident” and he died doing something he loved.

“Every single weekend, if he wasn’t out conquering some mountain, he was thinking about it and planning his next trip,” Hegarty told The West Australian.

“He had an amazing bunch of friends in Geneva and Australia that shared his passion — if they weren’t hiking, they were skiing.

“He was always ready for the next challenge and absolutely lived life to the fullest.”

Ingram moved to Geneva in 2017 and worked as a global manager at COFCO International.

In a post on Facebook last year, Ingram revealed his “love for alpine hiking”.

“I spend all my holidays and weekends exploring the European alps, sussing out different mountain passes and if I’m lucky finding the odd crystal along the way too,” he said.

A funeral service will be held in Geneva before his body is return home to Australia.
