Four people — including a child — have died at the scene of a devastating crash in the early hours of Friday.

Major crash detectives are investigating the incident, which happened in Clackline, about 80km north-east of Perth.

Three men and one young boy were heading east along Great Eastern Highway in a silver Nissan Navara ute when it left the road and hit a tree about 12.30am.

At 2am, Main Roads urged motorists to take “extreme caution” in the area, near Eadine Road.
