What’s open on Anzac Day 2025? Woolies, Coles, BWS and Dan Murphy’s hours on Friday

Many Australians will brave chilly temperatures this Anzac Day to mark the sacrifice of the nation’s service men and women at Dawn Services across the country.

The solemn national occasion will see stores and businesses in many states and territories shut their doors for the day, or open with heavily restricted trading hours.

Due to the timing of the Easter break, Australians will enjoy two long weekends back-to-back. It may also mean that some cupboards will be looking pretty bare after several days of reduced trading hours.

Here is a comprehensive list of the stores that are open and shut on Anzac Day so you can stock back up on goods.

NSW shoppers are reminded that due to changes to the Retail Trading Act, more stores will be closed this Anzac Day compared to previous years.

What is open on Anzac Day?

Woolworths

Most Woolworths stores will be closed in NSW, Queensland, South Australia, and Perth on Anzac Day. Stores in Victoria, Northern Territory and the ACT will open at 1pm. Woolworths stores in Tasmania will open at 12:30pm, and stores in regional Western Australia will open at 12pm or 1pm.

Coles

Coles stores in NSW and Queensland will be closed on Anzac Day.

Stores in Victoria will reopen at 1pm, stores in the Northern Territory will open at 12pm, and stores in the ACT and Tasmania will open at either 12:30pm or 1pm.

Locations and opening hours vary across locations in SA and WA, so shoppers are advised to check hours online.

Aldi

Aldi stores in Victoria will be open on Anzac Day and closed in Queensland. Shops in the rest of the states and territories vary, and Aldi advises customers to visit the Aldi store locator or more information.

Westfield

All Westfield destinations in NSW, Queensland, SA and WA will be closed on Anzac Day. Westfield stores in the ACT are open 1pm – 5pm, and in Victoria 1pm – 9pm.

Kmart

Kmart stores in NSW, Queensland and WA will be closed. Victorian and South Australian stores will open after 1pm, while in the ACT, Kmart will open after 1.30pm.

Dan Murphy’s and BWS

Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores will be open in Victoria, ACT, and Tasmania between 12:30pm and 1:15pm, with times slightly varying across the regions.

Liquor stores in Queensland will be closed all day.

While most NSW Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores will remain closed for the entire day, selected stores that are attached to ALH Hotels across the state will be open.

In SA and WA, opening hours will vary, and customers are advised to call their local store for more information.

Big W

Big W stores in WA, NSW and Queensland will keep their doors shut on Anzac Day, and will operate at reduced hours in the other states and territories.

Ikea

Ikea stores in NSW, WA and Queensland will be closed, and will operate at reduced hours in Victoria and SA.
