Woolworths has expanded its bakery range with new products designed to offer the “wow” factor of a boutique bakery at supermarket prices.

The latest additions include two finish-at-home celebration cakes: Leo the Lion and Yasmin the Unicorn, as well as a vanilla version of the supermarket’s popular pre-sliced mudcake slab and a new chocolate cupcake pack.

The cakes have been rolled out in response to growing shopper demand for both value and quality, with Woolworths aiming to provide creative celebration solutions for every occasion.

Now available in stores nationally, the Woolworths Leo the Lion cake ($30) is a 900g chocolate sponge covered in buttercream and sprinkles, with decorations to easily complete the lion’s face at home.

The Woolworths Yasmin the Unicorn cake ($30) features a 900g vanilla sponge with smooth buttercream and sprinkles, along with unicorn decorations for a creative finish in the kitchen.

Also joining shelves this week is the Woolworths party pack mudcake slices 24 pack vanilla ($14), a pre-sliced option designed for convenience and sharing.

The new flavour complements the existing chocolate variety, which has become a popular “cake hack” for parties.

For smaller gatherings, Woolworths has introduced a 12-pack of chocolate cupcakes ($8.25), providing a cocoa-based alternative to the supermarket’s vanilla cupcakes.

Woolworths Supermarkets category manager Laura McLeod said they understood how much families wanted to make kids’ celebrations extra special while managing a budget.

“That’s why we’re so thrilled about our new celebration cakes like Leo the Lion and Yasmin the Unicorn. They bring all the fun and glamour of a custom creation, with super easy at-home finishing, making them a convenient choice for those ‘wow’ moments at any kids’ party,” Ms McLeod said.

“A lot of thought has gone into delivering this level of design and quality, ensuring there’s a fantastic cake for every celebration. Plus, for those who love getting creative without the baking hassle, or just need to feed a big crowd, our versatile mudcake slab is the ultimate all-rounder.

“After seeing the incredible appetite for our chocolate slab, we knew it was time to introduce a vanilla option for all our dedicated fans.”
