Blossom lotus flower birthday cake candle from Discount Packaging Warehouse recalled over urgent safety fears
A popular birthday candle product has been urgently recalled over fears it could cause burns or even death in young children.
The ACCC says the blossom lotus flower birthday cake candle (two piece), sold at Discount Packaging Warehouse, “does not comply with the mandatory standards for products containing button/coin batteries”.
It says the batteries in the candles may not be properly secured and could cause choking, severe internal burns or even death in young children.

By continuing you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy.The candle may also be subject to the ACCC’s combustible candle holders permanent ban, which prohibits the sale of candle holders and candle decorations that can ignite when exposed to a burning candle.
The ACCC warns that kids who swallow or place button or coin batteries in their bodies could receive severe or fatal injuries in just a two-hour window.
The blossom lotus flowr birthday cake candle also could cause serious injury, death or property damage if the candle holder catches fire.
The recall applies to the following varieties of the product:
- Colourful (SKU: 785586)
- Pink (SKU: 785585)
- Red (SKU: 785584)
- Blue (SKU: 785583)
- Purple (SKU: 785582)
- Yellow (SKU: 785581)
What consumers should do
- Stop using the product immediately and ensure children are unable to access it.
- Destroy the product and dispose of it.
- Contact Discount Packaging Warehouse for a refund.
