More than 360 products at Coles will have their prices slashed from Wednesday for 12 weeks.

The announcement means more than 600 products will be on special in the month of September, including 400g of sizzle steak — down to $11 from $13.

The sales come as both Coles and Woolworths have come under fire for hiking prices during a cost-of-living crisis, with a Senate inquiry this year recommending price gouging be made illegal.

It also caused for the duopoly between the two supermarket giants to be broken up.

Among the savings announced is 1kg of Boneless Herb and Garlic Chicken, which has been dropped by $2 to $11.

A 500g pack of pork mince has been slashed to $4.70 from $5.50.

The supermarket’s Kitchen Pasta, Potato or Coleslaw 800g Salads have all been reduced from $7 to $6, and its Mini Pane Di Casa loaves are selling at $2.50 from $3.25.

A 175g packet of CC’s Corn Chips 175g is on the shelves for $3, from a previous price of $5.

Coles chief commercial officer Anna Croft said the sales were timed for Spring, as families came together to watch the AFL finals.

“We’re moving into the time of year when our customers are doing more entertaining with family and friends, so our Spring Value pricing is all about helping stretch budgets a bit further when it comes to enjoying time together,” Ms Croft said.

“From today through September, our customers will find more than 600 products on Down Down in-store and online, covering all the entertaining essentials as well as household staples.”

The sales apply to products in-store and online.

Other savings will be on a 24-pack of 375ml Sprite Lemonade — selling for $21, down from $38.50, and a 500g tub of Activa Low Fat Yoghurt Vanilla dropping from $5.75 to $4.50.

Cleaning products like 4 litres of Cold Power Advanced Clean Laundry Liquid have been reduced from $36 to $22 and 250ml of Nivea Men’s and Women’s Aerosol Deodorant is nearly half priced at $5, from $9.50.
