Amazon Australia is getting ahead of mid-year sales mayhem, launching a recruitment drive to hire 1400 seasonal workers to get ahead of the biggest shopping period of the year.

The local arm of the tech giant is looking for workers at sites across Australia who can pick, pack, and ship orders during the end of financial year sales period in June and its Prime Day event in July.

Half of the 1400 new workers will be deployed at Amazon sites in NSW, while Victorian sites are seeking 300 workers, Queensland needs 200, and sites in Western Australia will recruit 130 new workers.

The remaining 70 new staff will be deployed at sites in South Australia and Tasmania.

Prospective applicants do not need prior experience or formal qualifications to apply, Amazon Australia human relations operations director Jacqui Marker says.

“We offer all kinds of jobs for all kinds of people and are focused on creating a safe and inclusive workplace for them,” Ms Marker said.

“We provide on-the-job training so no previous experience or formal qualifications are required and Prime Day always promises to be an exciting time of year.

As well as permanent full-time positions — which include life, health, and income protection insurance — Amazon also offers flexible working arrangements through its Amazon Flex program.

Amazon Flex allows workers to deliver packages using their own vehicles at their own convenience.

Applications for the jobs open on Monday, April 29.
