Westpac said it was “aware” that customers were experiencing the “issues accessing online and mobile banking”.
Two hours after its initial statement, Westpac said it had “restored” its banking services.
“Our online and mobile banking services have now been restored,” the bank wrote.
“We apologise for the disruption this afternoon and thank you for your patience during this time.”
The outage came less than a day after the bank confirmed its services had been “restored” from a prior outage.
St George, a member of the Westpac Group, also suffered an outage on Tuesday, with more than 200 customers lodging complaints to Downdetector. The bank shared the same statements on its social media channels.
Customers vented their frustration about the outage on social media, with business owners saying the outage leaves them unable to pay their staff, and customers saying they’re unable to pay for goods and services.
