Major Westpac outage strikes millions of customers

About 13 million Westpac customers worldwide were reportedly affected by the bank’s latest outage on Sunday.
Westpac users had been unable to log into their bank accounts online for hours, with the bank posting on social media around 3pm that the issue was finally fixed.
“Our online and mobile banking services have now been restored,” the statement reads.

Westpac also warned customers about the threat of scammers who may be impersonating workers during the outage.
“During service disruptions, we encourage you to be vigilant against potential scams as some scammers may try to impersonate the bank, offering help,” the bank said.
Earlier, the bank issued an apology to its frustrated customers via a statement provided to 7NEWS.com.au.
“We’re aware some of our customers are experiencing issues accessing online and mobile banking. We’re working to restore services as quickly as possible and apologise to customers for the inconvenience,” the statement reads.
7NEWS understands there is no risk to customer accounts.
