Fortescue has announced the demotion of its energy boss Mark Hutchinson amid a raft of other leadership changes at the top end of the Andrew Forrest-led business.

The company told the ASX late on Thursday that Mr Hutchinson would retire as CEO of its energy business and shift to a marketing and board advisory role.

Chief operating officer Shelley Robertson will exit the business entirely to pursue non-executive director opportunities and Dino Otranto will have his role as iron ore CEO expanded to include electrification and decarbonisation.
