Woolworths rewards shoppers are threatening to cancel their memberships after the major supermarket axed a Big W discount.

From next month, Everyday Extra members will no longer be able to claim 10 per cent off their Big W purchases once per month.

Shoppers have flocked to social media criticising the supermarket and threatening to cancel their subscriptions.

Some have even said they will instead support Woolworths’ biggest competitor, Coles, in favour of its discount programs.

‘We’re writing to let you know that, unfortunately, from Sunday June 1 2025, the BIG W monthly ten per cent off discount will no longer be part of the Everyday Extra benefits,” an email to customers said.

“Thanks for being an Everyday Extra subscriber and we hope you’ll continue enjoying great value from your subscription.”

The email was posted to social media, and shoppers flocked to the comment section expressing their outrage.

“This is ridiculous. It’s my second year paying for this service … this current subscription year has been terrible. I don’t even get to spend X amount for 4 weeks to get X amount of dollars,” one shopper wrote.

“Woolworths are definitely trying to get their moneys worth and not for us now. Will look into coles rewards,” another commented.

“Yeah, I’ve just cancelled my subscription. Second reduction in benefits in a year without reduction in cost/replacement of benefit,” a past customer lamented.

The change will heavily impact families who use the rewards system, especially around holiday seasons to stretch their dollar a little more.

“Over the past few years, Big W has been focused on delivering more value to customers every day, reducing prices on thousands of products across their range and keeping prices down,” an Everyday Rewards spokesperson told NewsWire.

“For example, 80 per cent of BIG W’s clothing range is now under $20 and 50 per cent of Big W’s home range is under $20.

“In order to continue to keep prices low for every shop at Big W, we have made the decision to remove the monthly 10 per cent Everyday Extra discount when subscribers shop at Big W.

“Instead, we will be introducing subscriber-only monthly deals at Big W. We will also continue to evolve the Everyday Extra program to give members new opportunities to earn and save.”

The spokesperson said shoppers would still be able to save by using the discount program.

“Everyday Extra still provides great value to subscribers, with 10 per cent off one shop a month at Woolworths supermarkets and 2x Everyday Rewards points on every shop at both Woolworths and Big W, helping members save up to $50 a month for a monthly subscription fee of $7,” they said.

“If any subscribers would like to cancel their subscription as a result of this change, they can do so via the Everyday Rewards app or by contacting our customer service team.”
