7NEWS veteran Graeme Butler has given his hot tips on how to save a buck on running shoes.

Speaking on his Butler’s Budget Busters segment this week, he explained how “wearing the right pair of shoes can make a big difference” to the price you pay in the long run.

Butler asks Peak Performance Institute podiatrist Dr Aaron Gregory if “high price does equal high performance.”

Butler told how he wanted to help runners “put their best foot forward without breaking the bank” amid Australia’s cost of living crisis.

“If you get the wrong shoe it can mean more injury and more pain,”

“Individuals need to get the right fit for their feet” Dr Gregory added.

One of Dr Gregory’s money-saving hacks was to “consider getting last year or the not-current years model” so you don’t break the bank but still have an elite shoe “that can be equally beneficial”.

Sam Simsek from the Running Centre also weighed in and shared his savvy idea’s when it comes to shoe savings.
